TEMPORARY & CONTINGENCY STAFF
We provide exceptional service and delivery times when it comes to supplying skilled and motivated temporary and contingency contract staff across all industries for both long and short term contracts. Moreover, we provide replacement staff during industrial action situations and stay-aways.
Our services include:
Administration and Human Resources
As our employees are our responsibility, we effectively handle all their administrative functions. This includes, but is not confined to, good time keeping, maintaining discipline, holding hearing and ensuring that a proper work ethic is upheld.
Payslips and Payroll
In the interest of security, we operate a computerised payroll system whereby salaries and wages are paid directly into our employees bank accounts. If a contract worker does not have a bank account when registering with us, one is opened for him/her.
Supervision
To ensure efficient contract continuity, execution and maintaining good communication, we assign a dedicated and trained supervisor to each contract of 40 or more people per site. Training and induction is performed so that the supervisor understands the client’s business, culture, procedures and operating styles and can therefore not only monitor the performance of the staff but can also initiate the immediate corrective action where necessary. We also have an operations supervisor who inspects the sites on a regular basis.
Induction training
Induction training plays an important role in ensuring staff members understand and adhere to each individual company’s rules and regulations. Our contracts manager and supervisor undergo the same training to familiarise themselves with our client’s procedures as well as their health and safety regulations.
Timesheet Attendance
All our staff members work off time sheets or clocking systems, therefore ensuring that each client is only charged for the number of attendees and for the hours worked. For auditing purposes, we keep this information for one calendar year.
Health and Safety
The relevant legislation protects part-time and temporary workers to the same extent as permanent employees. Even though the temporary employees work conditions are determined by the client, we ensure that they are physically protected before they begin a contract.
Social Security & Social Protection
The most important social protection measure applicable to those in an employment relationship is unemployment insurance. Although contributions to the unemployment insurance is obligatory, in
practice non-standard workers are less likely to be registered with the fund, particularly those in externalised employment.
In light of this, our policy is to ensure that all our employees are registered with the UIF. Furthermore, each staff member is registered with the Workman’s Compensation, and when required, with a reputable Provident Fund.
Leave / Absenteeism
According to the labour law, every person is entitled to sick leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, family responsibility leave and annual leave.
This process is handled by the supervisors, with the information being processed by our administration department.
Uniforms
We ensure all contract staff wear the necessary uniforms and protective clothing to suit the nature of each individual contract. This process is facilitated whereby we familiarise ourselves with the appropriate safety requirements so that we can ensure full compliance at all times.
Transportation
The availability of transport is an important factor affecting not only staff attendance, but is critical in terms of the efficient running of a contract. To this end, we eliminate this problem by making available the necessary transport where necessary.
Monthly Reports
Umkhonto Labour Holdings will provide each client with a detailed monthly report within seven days of the new month.
